Extension Housing Gasket - Rear Wheel Drive (RWD): Installation

  1. Clean the extension housing and install new extension housing gasket. Make sure that the parking pawl, spring and shaft are correctly installed.

    CAUTION: Make sure the parking lever actuating rod is correctly seated into the case parking rod guide cup.
  3. Install the extension housing.
    1. Position the extension housing.
    2. Install the extension housing screws.
    3. Install the extension housing studs.
    • Tighten to 45 Nm (33 lb-ft).

  5. Install the transmission mount.
    1. Position the transmission mount on the extension housing.

    Install the transmission mount-to-extension housing screws.

    • Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

  7. Install the transmission mount into the crossmember and tighten the transmission mount nuts.
    • Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

    NOTE: Align the driveshaft with the marks made during removal to make sure of correct balance.
  9. Align and install the rear driveshaft.

  11. With the marks aligned, install the rear driveshaft and bolts.
    • Tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
  12. Fill the transmission with clean automatic transmission fluid to the correct level and check for correct transmission operation.
