Muffler and Tailpipe: Installation: Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Ford Ranger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Do not tighten the exhaust system fasteners until all components are assembled and aligned, making sure to tighten all fasteners beginning at the front of the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System Alignment in this article.
CAUTION:
Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. These lubricants may cause deterioration of the rubber. This can lead to separation of the isolator from the exhaust hanger bracket during vehicle operation.
NOTE:
Clean the mating surface of the exhaust downpipe or the catalytic converter and the muffler and tailpipe assembly. Make sure not to damage the exhaust downpipe or catalytic converter and muffler and tailpipe assembly mating surfaces.
