Removal And Installation

6 W500222 Front coolant outlet pipe bracket bolt (2 required)
7 8594 Front coolant outlet pipe
8 3C587 Front coolant outlet pipe O-ring seal (2 required)
  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding - 2.3L  in this article.
  2. Disconnect the radiator upper hose from the front coolant outlet pipe.
  3. Disconnect the engine coolant vent hose from the front coolant outlet pipe.
  4. Disconnect the heater hose from the front coolant outlet pipe.
  5. Remove the oil indicator tube-to-front coolant outlet pipe bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  6. Remove the bolts and remove the front coolant outlet pipe.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  7. NOTE: Inspect the 2 O-ring seals. Install new O-ring seals if necessary.
    NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine coolant.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
