Removal And Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.
- To install, tighten to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft).
- Remove the bolts, the oil pan and the gasket. Discard the gasket.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
- Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
CAUTION:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the old oil pan gasket.
