Removal And Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the drain plug and drain the engine oil.
    • To install, tighten to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft).
  3. Remove the bolts, the oil pan and the gasket. Discard the gasket.
    • To install, tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
  4. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the old oil pan gasket.
  5. Clean and inspect the sealing surfaces.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  7. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
