Hydraulic Lash Adjuster: Removal

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material created while cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
NOTE: For a valve train noise concern, inspect the valve-to-rocker arm clearance, rocker arms and push rods for wear. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
  1. Remove the lower intake manifold. For additional information, refer to Lower Intake Manifold  in this article.
  2. Remove the 2 bolts and the hydraulic lash adjuster guide plate retainer.
  3. Remove the hydraulic lash adjuster guide plates.
  4. Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters.
