Four wheel drive (4WD) vehicles

    CAUTION: Tape the U-joint bearing caps to prevent them from falling off the U-joints.
    CAUTION: Index-mark the front axle pinion flange to the front driveshaft.

  1. Remove and discard the bolts and straps. Secure the driveshaft aside.
  2. Secure the front axle housing to a suitable jack.

  3. NOTE: Only 2 axle housing mounting bolts shown.

  4. Remove the 3 axle housing mounting bolts and lower the axle housing approximately 50 mm (2 inches).
  5. Remove the engine support insulator nut.
