Cylinder Head: Removal

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
Remove the lower intake manifold. For additional information, refer to Lower Intake Manifold in this article.
Remove the A/C compressor. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL article.
Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR article.
Remove the power steering pump. For additional information, refer to POWER STEERING article.
Remove the bolts and the generator mounting bracket.

Remove the bolts and the rocker arms.

Remove the nut and detach the wiring harness bracket.

Remove the 2 stud bolts from the rear of the A/C compressor mounting bracket.

Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.

Remove the bolts and remove the front of the A/C compressor mounting bracket.

Remove the exhaust manifolds. For additional information, refer to Exhaust Manifold - RH and Exhaust Manifold - LH in this article.

NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

Remove the 2 cylinder block coolant drain plugs.
Remove and discard the 8 cylinder head bolts.

Remove the cylinder heads.

Remove and discard the cylinder head gaskets.
