Valve Seals: Installation

  1. Install the valve stem seal installation sleeve.

  2. Using the special tool, install a new valve seal.

  3. NOTE: Check the seating of the valve spring retainer keys.

  4. Using the special tools, install the valve spring.
    • Insert the valve spring and the valve spring retainer.
    • Compress the valve spring and install the valve spring retainer keys using some grease and a small screwdriver.
  5. Disconnect the compressed air supply and install the spark plug.
    • Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft).
  6. Repeat the appropriate removal and installation steps for each of the cylinders being serviced.
  7. Coat the valve tappets with clean engine oil and install them in their original positions.
