Differential Case: Assembly

- Lubricate the differential side gear thrust washers and the differential side gears, and assemble them.
- Position the differential side gear and thrust washer assemblies in the differential case.
- Lubricate the differential pinion thrust washers and the differential pinion gears, and assemble them.
- Engage the differential pinion gears between the differential side gears.
- Rotate the differential pinion gears and align them with the differential pinion shaft bore.
- Insert the differential pinion shaft.
- Install the differential pinion shaft roll pin.
- Using a suitable press, install the differential ring gear.
- Position the differential ring gear and the differential case. Start 2 or 3 new bolts to align the holes in the ring gear and the differential case.
- Using a suitable press, install the differential ring gear.
- Install the remaining new differential ring gear bolts.
- Tighten to 122 Nm (90 lb-ft).
- Install the differential bearing shims and the differential bearings. For additional information, refer to Differential Bearings .
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the original bolts.
