Differential Case and Ring Gear - Conventional: Disassembly

  1. Remove the differential case. For additional information, refer to Differential Case .
  2. Fig 1: Removing Differential Ring Gear Bolts

  3. Remove and discard the 10 differential ring gear bolts.

    NOTE: Take care not to damage the bolt hole threads.
  5. Insert a punch in the bolt holes and drive off the ring gear.
  6. NOTE: The speed sensor ring cannot be reused once removed. Remove the speed sensor ring only if damaged.
  7. If necessary, remove the speed sensor ring.

  9. Using the special tools, remove the 2 differential bearings if necessary.

  11. Rotate and remove the differential pinion gears and differential pinion thrust washers.

  13. Remove the differential side gears and the differential side gear thrust washers.
