Pinpoint Test A: The Control Illumination Is Inoperative

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
  1. A1 CHECK THE PARKING LAMPS OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Turn the parking lamps on.
    • Do the parking lamps illuminate? 
    1. YES  : Go to  A2.
    2. NO  : VERIFY the central junction (CJB) box fuse 6 (15A) is OK. If OK, REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article.
  2. A2 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Turn the parking lamps off.
    • Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C2150b
    • Turn the parking lamps on.

    • Measure the voltage between the headlamp switch C2150b-6, circuit 14 (BN), harness side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. YES  : Go to  A3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. A3 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Turn the parking lamps off.
    • Measure the resistance between the headlamp switch C2150b-4, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : Go to  A4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 19 (LB/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C2150a
    • Measure the resistance between the headlamp switch C2150b-1, circuit 19 (LB/RD), harness side and the headlamp switch C2150a-8, circuit 19 (LB/RD), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
