Pinpoint Test F: DTC C1446: Testing

- F1 MONITOR THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) PIDs
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: PCM PID.
- Press and release the brake pedal while monitoring the PCM stoplamp switch PID.
- Does the PID agree with the brake pedal position?
- Yes : GO to F2.
- No : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosis of the stoplamps.
- F2 MONITOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ABS MODULE STOPLAMP SWITCH PID
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: ABS Module PID.
- Press and release the brake pedal while monitoring the stoplamp switch PID.
- Does the PID agree with the brake pedal position?
- Yes : INSTALL a ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ABS MODULE . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : GO to F3.
- F3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect the ABS connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- Connect the ABS connector and make sure that it is seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new ABS module. REFER to ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ABS MODULE . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
