Muffler and Tailpipe: Installation

CAUTION:
Do not tighten the fasteners until all components are assembled and aligned, making sure to tighten all fasteners beginning at the front of the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System Alignment in this article.
- Position the muffler and tailpipe assembly.
- Install the front muffler exhaust hanger bracket and isolator to the frame.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Install the rear muffler exhaust hanger bracket and isolator to the frame.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Install the tailpipe exhaust hanger bracket and isolator to the frame.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Align the exhaust system and tighten the exhaust system clamps. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System Alignment in this article.
NOTE:
Using an abrasive pad, clean the exhaust clamp surface area of any surface rust.
NOTE:
Whenever the exhaust intermediate pipe-to-muffler assembly clamp is loosened, a new exhaust intermediate pipe and clamp assembly must be installed.
