Removal and Installation

CAUTION:
Do not remove the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch at the same time or damage to the column can result.
- Depower the supplemental restraints system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- Remove the instrument panel steering column cover by pulling straight outward.
- Remove the upper steering column shroud.
- Release the tilt lever, remove the 3 screws and then remove the lower steering column shroud.
- Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
- Press the 2 tabs and remove the ignition switch.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Repower the supplemental restraints system (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
NOTE:
The instrument panel steering column cover is held in place by tabs that clip to the instrument panel.
NOTE:
Release the upper steering column shroud, by pressing inward on the sides of the shroud and lifting upwards.
NOTE:
Lower the steering column to the lowest tilt position.
