Engine Front Cover: Installation

    All vehicles 

  1. If removed, install the front cover crankcase dowels into the cylinder block.

  2. NOTE: Use guide studs to aid in installation. Studs must be fabricated locally.

  3. Install the guide studs.
  4. Apply a bead of sealant at the seam where the crankcase and the lower crankcase meet.

  5. Install a new engine front cover gasket.

  6. Install the engine front cover and bolts.

  7. Install the oil pump. For additional information, refer to OIL PUMP .
  8. Install the battery cable bracket and nut.

  9. NOTE: Install a new O-ring seal on the coolant pump pulley.

  10. If removed, install the coolant pump and bolts.
  11. If removed, install the coolant pump pulley and bolts.

  12. If removed, install the drive idler pulleys and bolts.

  13. Install the accessory drive belt tensioner and bolts.

  14. Position back the power steering pump and install the three bolts.

  15. Connect the lower radiator coolant hose.

  16. Connect the heater hose at the front cover.

  17. NOTE: Install a new O-ring seal.

  18. If removed, install the thermostat housing and stud bolts.
  19. Early build 

  20. Install the exhaust pressure bracket assembly and retaining nuts.

  21. Connect the exhaust pressure tube fitting at the exhaust manifold.

  23. Install the intake manifold. For additional information, refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD .
