Removal and Installation

- Remove the drive pinion flange. For additional information, refer to DRIVE PINION FLANGE AND DRIVE PINION SEAL .
- Disconnect the active on-demand coupling oil pump electrical connector.
- Position a drain pan under the active on-demand coupling.
- Remove the active on-demand coupling oil pump bolts and the complete active on-demand coupling oil pump body (black pump body and silver flange).
- To install, tighten to 6 N.m (53 lb-in)
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Always install a new active on-demand coupling oil pump seal.
- Using the special tool, fill the active on-demand coupling. Use the specified fluid and fill to the bottom of the fill hole.
- Tighten to 35 N.m (26 lb-ft).
