Pinpoint Test Q: The Parking, Rear Or License Plate Lamps Are On Continuously

  1. Q1 CHECK THE HEADLAMP SWITCH 
    • Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205a.
    • Do the parking lamps continue to illuminate? 

    Yes  : If equipped with autolamps, GO to Q2.

    If not equipped with autolamps, GO to  Q3.

    No  : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to HEADLAMP SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.

  2. Q2 CHECK THE VEHICLE SECURITY MODULE 
    • Disconnect: Vehicle Security Module 2113b.
    • Do the parking lamps continue to illuminate? 

    Yes  : GO to Q3.

    No  : GO to  Q6.

  3. Q3 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: CJB C270b.
    • Do the rear parking lamps continue to illuminate? 

    Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : GO to Q4.

  4. Q4 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE (SIGNAL MIRROR MARKER) 
    • Disconnect: CJB C270J.
    • Do the signal mirror marker lamps continue to illuminate? 

    Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : GO to Q5.

  5. Q5 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE (FRONT LAMP CIRCUIT) 
    • Disconnect: CJB C270h.
    • Do the front parking lamps continue to illuminate? 

    Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : INSTALL a new CJB. TEST the system for normal operation.

  6. Q6 CHECK FOR CORRECT VEHICLE SECURITY MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the vehicle security module connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the vehicle security module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new vehicle security module. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
