Pinpoint Test B: The Alarm System Does Not Arm/Disarm - Using The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter

  1. B1 CHECK THE DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK OPERATION FROM THE RKE TRANSMITTER 
    • Lock and unlock the doors using the RKE transmitter.
    • Do all the doors lock and unlock correctly? 

    Yes  : GO to B2.

    No  : REFER to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS to continue diagnosis of the door locks.

  2. B2 CHECK THE TRANSMITTER TIC AND DATA 
    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: SJB FUNCTION TEST.

      Enter SJB, FUNCTION TESTS, TRANSMITTER TIC/DATA through the diagnostic tool menus.

    • Is there at least one transmitter stored and displayed next to TIC 1? 

    Yes  : GO to B3.

    No  : PROGRAM all of the RKE transmitters. REFER to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS to program the RKE transmitters. TEST the system for normal operation.

  3. B3 CHECK THE LAST TIC RECEIVED 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: TIC/DATA.

      Press and release the UNLOCK button of an RKE transmitter. The transmission received contains TICs for the RKE transmitter being operated and DATA for which the button has been pressed.

    • Does an eight-digit alpha-numeric code appear for the LAST TIC RECEIVED and does the LAST DATA RECEIVED match the button press? 

    Yes  : GO to  B5.

    No  : GO to B4.

  4. B4 CHECK THE TIC AND DATA FOR THE SECOND RKE TRANSMITTER 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: TIC/DATA.

      Press and release the UNLOCK button of the second RKE transmitter. The transmission received contains TICs for the second RKE transmitter being operated and DATA for which the button has been pressed.

    • Does an 8 digit alpha-numeric code appear under the LAST TIC RECEIVED and does the LAST DATA RECEIVED match the button pressed? 

    Yes  : CHECK the battery of the RKE transmitter(s). If the battery is OK, a new RKE transmitter(s) is necessary. PROGRAM the RKE transmitter(s). REFER to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS to program the RKE transmitters. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : GO to B5.

  5. B5 CHECK THE TRANSMITTER TIC AND DATA 
    • Press and release the UNLOCK button of the RKE transmitter. The transmission received contains TICs for the RKE transmitter being operated and DATA for which the button has been pressed.
    • Is the TIC RECEIVED one of the TICs RECORDED? 

    Yes  : GO to B6.

    No  : PROGRAM the RKE transmitters. REFER to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS to program the RKE transmitters. TEST the system for normal operation.

  6. B6 CHECK THE TIC/DATA FOR DATA MATCH 
    • From the diagnostic tool FUNCTION TEST, monitor the Transmitter TIC/DATA.
    • Does each button pressed on the transmitter create the expected LAST DATA RECEIVED output? 

    Yes  : GO to B7.

    No  : PROGRAM the RKE transmitter(s). REFER to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS to program the RKE transmitters.

  7. B7 CHECK THE SJB FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
