Panic Alarm
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Mercury Mariner and 2006 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The panic alarm feature provides audible and visual alarms that are evident from the exterior of the vehicle. The panic alarm feature commands the parking lamps to flash and the horn to sound until deactivation. These outputs occur simultaneously. Activation of the panic alarm is accomplished by pressing the PANIC button on the RKE transmitter whenever the key is in the OFF or ACC position. At all other times this feature is disabled. Deactivation of an active panic alarm is accomplished by:
- a second press of the remote transmitter PANIC button.
- switching the key out of the OFF or ACC position.
- a period of 2 minutes and 45 seconds has elapsed since the initial activation.
