Removal and Installation

- Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
- Loosen the steering wheel bolt.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Using the special tool, separate the steering wheel from the steering column shaft.
- Remove and discard the steering wheel bolt.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors from the steering wheel and remove the steering wheel.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE:
Make sure the wheels are in the straight-ahead position.
CAUTION:
Removing the steering wheel without using a puller can damage the column bearings.
NOTE:
Do not remove the steering wheel bolt until the steering wheel has been separated from the steering column shaft.
