Removal and Installation

- If equipped, turn the air suspension service switch to the OFF position.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Disconnect the rear parking brake cable and conduit. For additional information, refer to PARKING BRAKE & ACTUATION .
- Remove the axle shaft. For additional information, refer to REAR DRIVE AXLE/DIFFERENTIAL - FORD 8.8-INCH RING GEAR .
- Remove the 4 retainers and the brake caliper anchor plate.
- To install, tighten to 68 Nm (50 lb-ft).
- If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- If equipped, turn the air suspension service switch to the ON position.
WARNING:
The electrical power to the air suspension system must be shut off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. This can be accomplished by turning off the air suspension service switch. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
