Normal Operation

The wheel speed sensor and sensor ring generate a square wave signal to the ABS module that is proportional to the wheel speed. The ABS module compares the wheel speed inputs from all the wheel speed sensors to determine an impending wheel lockup.

DTC DESCRIPTION TABLE

DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
  • C1233 - LF Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Fault
  • C1234 - RF Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Fault
  • C1235 - RR Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Fault
  • C1236 - LR Wheel Speed Sensor Signal Fault
If the ABS module does not receive a signal from a wheel speed sensor when the vehicle speed is greater than 15 km/h (9 mph), the appropriate DTC is set. If the difference of 2 wheel speed values is greater than 25 km/h (16 mph), the appropriate DTC sets. These DTCs are usually set by a damaged wheel speed sensor or damaged sensor tone ring, they can also be set by wheels and/or tires of different sizes being installed on the vehicle or a difference in tire pressures.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
