- Remove the PTU. For additional information, refer to POWER TRANSFER UNIT (PTU) in the service information.
- Using the PTO Driven Gear Oil Seal Remover and Slide Hammer, remove the intermediate shaft seal.
NOTE:
Red Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) leaking from the RH side of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) indicates a faulty intermediate shaft seal. For additional information, refer to ANALYSIS OF LEAKAGE in this service information.
