DTC P2802: Transmission Range Sensor B Circuit Low

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Mercury Milan, 2011 Lincoln MKZ, 2011 Ford Fusion, 2010 Mercury Milan, and 2010 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
P2802 - TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR B CIRCUIT LOW

Description:  The powertrain control module (PCM) checks the gear selector position by monitoring three independent voltage signals from the transmission range (TR) sensor. The TR voltages are then compared to an allowed voltage range for each gear. The test fails when the compared voltages are out of range. This DTC indicates that one TR signal is low.
Possible Causes:
  • TR circuit shorted to ground or SIG RTN
  • TR circuit open
  • Damaged TR sensor
Diagnostic Aids:  Monitor the TR_A1, TR_A2, and TR_A3 sensor voltage PIDs. The TR_A1 sensor voltage has a negative slope, and TR_A2, and TR_A3 sensor voltages have a positive slope.
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
