Removal and Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Lincoln MKX and 2010 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Both the power sliding glass motor and the power shade motor must be the same build level. For information on the build level of the motor, refer to the REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  of that motor.
NOTE: The jumper wiring harness is different on the older level (black and silver) and the newer level (blue and white) motors. They are not interchangeable. Make sure to match the jumper wiring harness with the correct level of motor.
  1. Remove the headliner. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the roof opening panel sliding glass motor, shade motor and main harness.
  3. NOTE: Make note of all the cable wrap locations attaching the harness to the drive tubes, they must be reinstalled at the exact same locations.
    NOTE: Early build motors shown in illustration, late build motors similar.

  4. Remove the cable wraps and the wiring harness.
  5. NOTE: Be careful not to overtighten cable wraps during assembly to prevent crimping the cable sheath.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
