Pinpoint Test F: The Roof Opening Panel Does Not Open Or Close In The Vent Position

NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE: Both the power sliding glass motor and the power shade motor must be the same build level. For information on the build level of the motor, refer to the REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  of that motor.
NOTE: The jumper wiring harness is different on the older level (black and silver) and the newer level (blue and white) motors. They are not interchangeable. Make sure to match the jumper wiring harness with the correct level of motor.
  1. F1 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR FOR INITIALIZATION 
    • Yes:  GO to F2  .
    • No:  The system is operating normally at this time. The roof opening panel motor was not initialized.
  2. F2 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL SWITCH 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Switch C9001.
    • Carry out the roof opening panel switch component test.

      Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for component testing.

    • Did the roof opening panel switch pass the component test? 
  3. F3 CHECK CIRCUIT CPR38 (WH/BU) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Motor Assembly C920.
    • Measure the resistance between roof opening panel switch C9001-6, circuit CPR38 (WH/BU), harness side and roof opening panel motor assembly C920-6, circuit CPR38 (WH/BU) harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes:  GO to F4  .
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. F4 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR WIRING HARNESS 
    • Check the roof opening panel motor wiring harness for loose pins, an open or a short between roof opening panel motor assembly C920-6, circuit CPR38, component side and the roof opening panel motor wiring harness socket.
    • Is the roof opening panel motor wiring harness OK? 
  5. F5 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING SLIDING GLASS PANEL MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all roof opening panel motor connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • bent or pushed-out pins.
    • Connect all roof opening panel motor connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
