Selector Lever Cable: Removal

All vehicles 

  1. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector and the wiring harness fastener from the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly.

  2. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the ACL outlet pipe.

  3. Disconnect the engine breather from the ACL  assembly.

  4. Remove the ACL  assembly bracket bolt.

  5. Loosen the ACL  outlet pipe clamp at the Throttle Body (TB) and remove the ACL  and ACL  outlet pipe assembly.

  6. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the manual control lever.

  7. Release the 2 tabs, remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket and position the cable aside.

  8. Remove the 3 bolts and the selector lever cable bracket.

    MKX only 

  9. Using a suitable tool, remove the selector lever trim ring.

    All vehicles 

  10. Lift the armrest. Using a suitable tool, remove the center console trim cover.

  11. Remove the 2 fasteners and position the power outlet trim cover aside.

  12. Remove the selector lever cable end from the selector lever.

  13. Release the 2 tabs and remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever housing.

  14. Remove the center console side cover.

  15. Remove the 2 nuts from the grommet, route the selector lever cable from the engine compartment through the floor and remove the selector lever cable from the passenger compartment.
