Removal and Installation

NOTE:
When repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of foreign material or failure of the power steering components may result.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove the pressure line-to-steering gear banjo bolt and disconnect the pressure line from the steering gear.
- Discard the 2 seals.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Release the clamp and disconnect the return hose from the steering gear.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the return hose from the return line.
- Remove the 3 pressure line bracket-to-steering gear bolts.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Disconnect the purge valve electrical connector.
- Disconnect the 3 PCM electrical connectors and position the wiring harness aside.
- Remove the pressure line-to-power steering pump banjo bolt and disconnect the pressure line from the pump.
- Discard the 2 seals.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill the power steering system. For additional information, refer to STEERING SYSTEM .
