Removal and Installation

NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.
NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
  1. Remove the front seat cushion. For additional information, refer to SEAT CUSHION - FRONT .
  2. Release the cushion trim cover retainers from the cushion frame and remove the cushion trim cover and cushion foam pad.
  3. NOTE: Use care when separating the cushion trim cover from the hook-and-loop strips, or the hook-and-loop strips can be torn from the cushion foam pad.
    NOTE: A new heater mat will come assembled on a new foam pad.
  4. Remove the cushion trim cover in the following sequence.
    1. Invert the cushion trim cover and separate the wire retainer from the clips in the cushion foam pad.
      • If equipped, make sure the climate controlled seat manifold is in place before snapping the cushion trim cover wire retainer back into the cushion foam pad for correct installation.
    2. Remove the cushion trim cover.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  6. Install the front seat cushion. For additional information, refer to SEAT CUSHION - FRONT .
