Pinpoint Test C: No Power In Run

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Lincoln MKX and 2010 Ford Edge. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
NOTE: Verify that battery voltage is 10 volts or greater.
  1. C1 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH
    • Carry out the Ignition Switch - Electrical Component Test.
    • Is the ignition switch OK?
    • Yes:  GO to C2  .
    • No:  INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to IGNITION SWITCH . TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. C2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE SJB
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: SJB  C2280B.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between SJB  C2280B-45, circuit CDC34 (WH/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    • Yes:  GO to C3  .
    • No:  REPAIR circuit CDC34 (WH/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. C3 CHECK FOR IGNITION VOLTAGE AT THE RUN/START RELAY
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Connect: SJB  C2280B.
    • Disconnect: Run/Start Relay.
    • Ignition ON.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    • Yes:  GO to C4  .
    • No:  REPAIR circuit CDC34 (WH/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. C4 CHECK THE RUN/START RELAY
    • Carry out the Mini ISO Relay Component Test.

Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for component testing.

    • Is the relay OK?
    • Yes:  GO to C5  .
    • No:  INSTALL a new relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. C5 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE AT THE RUN/START RELAY
    • Measure the voltage between run/start relay circuit SDC02 (RD), and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    • Yes:  GO to C6  .
    • No:  VERIFY battery voltage is 10 volts or greater. If OK, REPAIR or INSTALL a new BJB  . TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. C6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
    • Disconnect: SJB  C2280b.
    • Check the connector for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
      • spread terminal.
    • Connect: SJB  C2280b.
    • Make sure the connector is seated correctly, then operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
    • Yes:  INSTALL a new SJB  . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
