Pinpoint Test H: The Rear Video Is Inoperative

NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE: Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. Refer to GENERAL PROCEDURES .
  1. H1 VERIFY VEHICLE EQUIPMENT - NAVIGATION 
    • Check the vehicle for navigation.
    • Is the vehicle equipped with navigation? 
    • Yes:  GO to  H7.
    • No:  GO to H2  .
  2. H2 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMPS OPERATION 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Apply the parking brake.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Select REVERSE.
    • Check the operation of the reversing lamps.
    • Do the reversing lamps operate correctly? 
  3. H3 CHECK FOR VIDEO CAMERA SIGNAL 
    • Observe the auto-dimming interior mirror.
    • Select PARK.
    • Select REVERSE.
    • Does the auto-dimming interior mirror momentarily display a blue screen, then turns black? 
    • Yes:  The auto-dimming interior mirror is functional. There is no signal from the video camera. GO to  H9.
    • No:  GO to H4  .
  4. H4 CHECK THE AUTO-DIMMING INTERIOR MIRROR VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Auto-Dimming Interior Mirror C9039.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between the auto-dimming interior mirror C9039-1, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes:  GO to H5  .
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. H5 CHECK THE AUTO-DIMMING INTERIOR MIRROR REVERSE INPUT CIRCUIT 
    • Select REVERSE.
    • Measure the voltage between the auto-dimming interior mirror C9039-2, circuit CBB07 (GN/BU), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes:  GO to H6  .
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. H6 CHECK THE AUTO-DIMMING INTERIOR MIRROR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
    • Measure the resistance between the auto-dimming interior mirror C9039-3, circuit GD182 (BK/GY), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes:  INSTALL a new auto-dimming interior mirror. REFER to INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR . CONNECT the negative battery cable. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit. CONNECT the negative battery cable. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. H7 CHECK FOR ACM DTCs 
    • Review the recorded DTCs from the ACM  self-test.
    • Is DTC C1001:01 or DTC U0155:00 present? 
  8. H8 CHECK THE ACM DISPLAY 
    • Select REVERSE.
    • Observe the ACM  display.
    • Does the ACM display "PLEASE CHECK SURROUNDINGS FOR SAFETY" at the top for the screen? 
  9. H9 CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Video Camera C4234.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between the video camera C4234-1, circuit (WH), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes:  GO to H10  .
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  10. H10 CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Negative Battery Cable.
    • Measure the resistance between the video camera C4234-6, circuit (BN/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes:  GO to H11  .
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit. CONNECT the negative battery cable. TEST the system for normal operation.
  11. H11 CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND WITH THE AUTO-DIMMING INTERIOR MIRROR (WITHOUT NAVIGATION) OR ACM (WITH NAVIGATION) DISCONNECTED 
    • Disconnect: Auto-Dimming Interior Mirror (Without Navigation) C9039 Or ACM  (With Navigation) C240d.
    • Measure the resistance between the video camera C4234-4, circuit (RD), harness side and ground and video camera C4234-5, circuit (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes:  GO to H12  .
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
  12. H12 CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VIDEO SHIELD 
    • Measure the resistance between the video camera C4234-4, circuit (RD), harness side and video camera C4234-2, circuit (NONE), harness side.

    • Measure the resistance between the video camera C4234-5, circuit (BK), harness side and video camera C4234-2, circuit (NONE), harness side.

    • Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes:  GO to H13  .
    • No:  REPAIR the circuit in question. CONNECT the negative battery cable. TEST the system for normal operation.
  13. H13 CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Connect: Negative Battery Cable.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between the video camera C4234-4, circuit (RD), harness side and ground.

    • Measure the voltage between the video camera C4234-5, circuit (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present on either circuit? 
    • Yes:  REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  GO to H14  .
  14. H14 CHECK VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Auto-Dimming Interior Mirror (Without Navigation) C9039.
    • Disconnect: ACM  (With Navigation) C240d.
    • Connect a fused jumper wire between the video camera C4234-4, circuit (RD), harness side and the video camera C4234-5, circuit (BK), harness side.

    • For vehicles without navigation, measure the resistance between the auto-dimming interior mirror C9039-8, circuit VMP19 (WH/GN), harness side and the auto-dimming interior mirror C9039-16, circuit RMP19 (BN/VT), harness side.

    • For vehicles with navigation, measure the resistance between the ACM  C240c-6, circuit RMP19 (BN/VT), harness side and the ACM  C240c-1, circuit VMP19 (WH/GN), harness side.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes:  REMOVE the jumper wire. CARRY OUT the video camera component test. If the camera is inoperative, INSTALL a new video camera. REFER to VIDEO CAMERA . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to H15  .
  15. H15 CHECK VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUIT (+) FOR AN OPEN 
    • For vehicles without navigation, measure the resistance between the auto-dimming interior mirror C9039-8, circuit VMP19 (WH/GN), harness side and the video camera C4234-4, circuit (RD), harness side.

    • For vehicles with navigation, measure the resistance between the ACM  C240d-1, circuit VMP19 (WH/GN), harness side and the video camera C4234-4, circuit (RD), harness side.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes:  REPAIR circuit RMP19 (BN/VT) or (BK). TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  REPAIR circuit VMP19 (WH/GN) or (RD). TEST the system for normal operation.
