Pinpoint Test X: The Reversing Lamps Are Inoperative: Testing

  1. X1 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) PIDs 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: TCM Transmission Range PIDs.
    • Monitor the TCM transmission range PIDs while placing the gear selector lever through all gear selections.
    • Do all the PIDs agree with the gear selections? 
  2. X2 CHECK CIRCUIT 1367 (WH/YE) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280e.
    • Connect a fused (10A) jumper wire between the SJB C2280e-18, circuit 1367 (WH/YE) and the positive battery terminal.

    • Do the reversing lamps illuminate? 
    • Yes  : REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to X3.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. X3 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
