Removal and Installation

- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Disconnect the EGR valve electrical connector.
- Release the clamp and remove the EGR coolant outlet hose from the EGR valve.
- Remove the 2 bolts and the EGR valve.
- Discard the gasket.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
- Clean the mating surfaces of any residual gasket material.NOTE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges that make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve gasket.NOTE: If there is no residual gasket material present, metal surface prep can be used to clean and prepare the mating surfaces.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
