Symptom Table

  • The rain sensitive wipers do not operate
  • Rain sensor mounting bracket not secured to the windshield
  • CHECK for correct installation of the rain sensor mounting bracket. If needed, REPLACE the rain sensor mounting bracket with part number 19G382. REFER to the instructions included in the replacement rain sensor mounting bracket kit.
    NOTE: If the rain sensor mounting bracket is detached from the windshield, a new bracket must be installed. Do not reuse the bracket or use rear view mirror adhesive to adhere the bracket to the windshield.

  • INSPECT the wiper blades for streaking on the windshield. If needed, INSTALL new wiper blades.

  • The rain sensitive wipers operate erratically/inconsistent operation/too sensitive or not sensitive enough to moisture
  • Wiper blades
  • INSPECT the wiper blades for streaking on the windshield. If needed, INSTALL new wiper blades.
  • Foreign material on windshield, such as dirt, dust or bugs
  • CLEAN the windshield.
  • Damaged windshield
  • Rain sensor installed incorrectly
  • CHECK for correct installation of the rain sensor. If needed, REMOVE and INSTALL the rain sensor. REFER to Removal and Installation .
  • Rain sensor damaged
  • REMOVE the rain sensor and INSPECT for damage. If needed, INSTALL a new rain sensor. REFER to Removal and Installation .
  • The wash and wipe function is inoperative
  • Circuitry
  • Blocked washer hose/washer jet
  • Washer pump motor
  • Multifunction switch
  • Wiper/washer module
  • If the washer pump is inoperative, Go To PINPOINT TEST F .
  • If the washer pump is operative, INSTALL a new Wiper/Washer Module  . TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The washer pump is inoperative

  • Blocked washer hose/washer jet
  • Washer pump motor

  • The headlamps do not illuminate when the wipers are on
