Removal And Installation

  1. Remove the bumper cover. For additional information, refer to BUMPERS article.
  2. Remove the front wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES article.
  3. Remove the fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to Fender Splash Shield - Taurus X .
  4. Remove the headlamp bolts.
  5. Remove the fascia bracket-to-fender-to-headlamp assembly bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  6. Remove the rocker panel molding. For additional information, refer to EXTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION article.
  7. NOTE: If shims are present during removal, be sure to reinstall shims and check fender alignment.
  8. Remove the 2 lower fender mounting bolts located at the lower rear of the fender.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  9. Remove the 2 fender bracket-to-fender bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

  11. Remove the fender mounting bolt located at the rear of the wheelhouse opening.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

  13. Remove the side mirror trim panel located at the top rear portion of the fender to gain access to the fender upper rear mounting bolt.
  14. Remove the fender upper rear mounting bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

  16. Remove the fender mounting nut.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

  18. Remove the fender upper mounting bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  19. Remove the fender.
  20. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
