Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the drive pinion flange. For additional information, refer to DRIVE PINION FLANGE AND DRIVE PINION SEAL .
  2. Disconnect the active on-demand coupling oil pump electrical connector.

  3. Position a drain pan under the active on-demand coupling.
  4. Remove the active on-demand coupling oil pump bolts and the complete active on-demand coupling oil pump body (black pump body and silver flange).
    • To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in)

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Always install a new active on-demand coupling oil pump seal.
    • Using the special tool, fill the active on-demand coupling. Use the specified fluid and fill to the bottom of the fill hole.
    • Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
