Normal Operation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2009 Mercury Sable, 2009 Ford Taurus X, and 2009 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
When the brake pedal is pressed, the brake on/off (BOO) switch closes and a voltage is sent to the smart junction box (SJB). The SJB then sends a message over the high-speed controller area network (HS-CAN) to the ABS module indicating that the brake pedal has been pressed.
- DTC C1446 BOO Plausibility Fault(s) - During normal operation, the ABS module compares the BOO HS-CAN message to the hydraulic control unit (HCU) internal pressure transducer. If the BOO does not match the HCU transducer, DTC C1446 will be set.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- BOO switch
- SJB
- HCU
- ABS module
