Removal And Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING article.
- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Remove and discard the oil filter.
- To install, lubricate the new oil filter O-ring seal with clean engine oil.
- Remove the oil cooler hose bolt and remove the oil cooler hoses from the oil filter adapter.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses from the oil cooler assembly.
- Remove the wire nut from the engine front cover stud bolt and remove the oil cooler assembly.
- Inspect the oil cooler.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
WARNING:
Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM

NOTE:
If metal or aluminum material is present in the oil cooler or oil cooler hoses, mechanical concerns exist. Severe damage to the engine may occur. To diagnose mechanical concerns, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION
