In-Vehicle Servicing: Camshaft: Installation

- Lubricate the camshaft journals with clean engine oil.
- Install the camshaft onto the cylinder head.
- Lubricate the camshaft bearing cap with clean engine oil.
- Install the camshaft bearing caps and loosely install the bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in illustration.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Install the camshaft sprocket and bolt. Tighten the bolt in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees (1/4 turn).
- Install the timing chains. For additional information, refer to Timing Drive Components .
- Install the roller followers. For additional information, refer to Camshaft Roller Follower .
- If equipped with fire suppression system, repower the system.
