Valve Cover - RH: Installation

  1. Install new gaskets. Make sure the gaskets are correctly seated on the valve cover.

    NOTE: If the valve cover is not secured within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface prep. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can result in future oil leakage.
  3. Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in 2 places where the engine front cover meets the cylinder head.

  5. Install the RH valve cover, the 7 bolts and 3 stud bolts.
    • Tighten in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

  7. Attach the wiring harness pin-type retainer to the rear of the intake manifold.
  8. Attach the 3 wiring harness retainers to the RH valve cover studs.
  9. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  10. Connect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor electrical connector.
  11. Connect the 4 RH fuel injector electrical connectors.
  12. Install the RH radio interference capacitor and the nut.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  13. Connect the PCV valve electrical connector.
  14. Install the crankcase ventilation tube.
  15. Install the RH ignition coils. For additional information, refer to ENGINE IGNITION - 5.4L (4V) .
  16. Install the 4 nuts and the strut tower cross brace.
    • Tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).

  18. Install the battery and tray. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
