Thermostat - 4.6L (3V): Installation

    NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine coolant.
  1. Install the thermostat with the smaller plate facing upward and a new O-ring seal.
  2. Position the thermostat cover and install the LH bolt and RH bolt.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  3. Position the generator and wiring harness.
  4. Tighten the 2 generator support bracket inner bolts.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  5. Install the 2 lower generator nuts.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  6. Install the 2 outer generator support bracket bolts.
    • Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
  7. Connect the crankcase vent tube to the intake manifold.
  8. Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE .
  9. Install the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING .
  10. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  11. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
