Pinpoint Test B: No Power In Acc

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Mercury Sable, 2008 Ford Taurus X, and 2008 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
  1. B1 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SJB
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280a
    • Key in ACCESSORY position.
    • Measure the voltage between SJB C2280a-3, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side and ground.
    • Fig 1: Measuring Voltage

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    1. YES  : Go to  B4.
    2. NO  : Go to  B2.
  2. B2 CHECK CIRCUIT CDC33 (VT/GN) FOR AN OPEN
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250
    • Measure the resistance between SJB C2280a-3, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side and ignition switch C250-6, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side.
    • Fig 2: Measuring Resistance

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    1. YES  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. B5 ISOLATE THE IGNITION SWITCH
    • Key in ACCESSORY position.
    • Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250 pin-4, component side and ignition switch C250 pin-6, component side.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  B6.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. B6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Check SJB C2280a for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
      • spread terminals.
    • Connect SJB C2280a and make sure it is seated correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
