Pinpoint Test As: The Headlamps On Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. AS1 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to the RUN for 6 seconds.
    • Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 
    1. YES  : Go to  AS2.
    2. NO  : Go to  AS6.
  2. AS2 CHECK THE EXTERIOR LAMPS OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the PARK or HEADLAMP ON position.
    • Do the headlamps or parking lamps operate? 
    1. YES  : Go to  AS3.
    2. NO  : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article.
  3. AS3 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR OPERATION 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Open then close the LH front door while observing the message center operation.
    • Does the door ajar warning message display in the message center? 
    1. YES  : Go to  AS4.
    2. NO  : Go to Pinpoint Test AP .
  4. AS4 CARRY OUT THE HEADLAMP ON WARNING CHIME ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster (IC) DataLogger
    • Select the instrument cluster (IC) door ajar warning chime (CHIME_H_LMP) active command. Command the headlamp on warning chime on.
    • Does the door ajar warning chime sound? 
    1. YES  : Go to  AS5.
    2. NO  : Go to  AS6.
  5. AS5 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
  6. AS6 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the instrument cluster (IC) connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the instrument cluster (IC) connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new instrument cluster (IC). REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
