Pinpoint Test J: The Headlamps Do Not Illuminate When The Wipers Are On

  1. J1 CHECK CIRCUIT CRW22 (WH/BU) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Disconnect: Windshield Wiper Motor C125
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between windshield wiper motor C125-2 circuit CRW22 (WH/BU), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage approximately 5 volts? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor. REFER to Wiper Motor - Windshield . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : Go to  J2.
  2. J2 CHECK CIRCUIT CRW22 (WH/BU) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280F
    • Measure the resistance between SJB C2280F-8 circuit CRW22 (WH/BU), harness side and windshield wiper motor C125-2 circuit CRW22 (WH/BU); then between SJB C2280F-8 circuit CRW22 (WH/BU), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the SJB and windshield wiper motor and greater than 10,000 ohms between the SJB and ground? 
    1. YES  : Go to  J3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. J3 CHECK FOR CORRECT MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the SJB self-test.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
