WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford RV Cutaway, 2008 Ford Econoline, 2008 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2008 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- A1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE CONTROL ILLUMINATION
- Key in ON position.
- Make sure the headlamp switch is in the OFF position.
- Is the control illumination on?
- A2 CHECK THE HEADLAMP SWITCH FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205
- Key in ON position.
- Is the control illumination on?
- YES : Go to A3.
- NO : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1045 (DB/WH) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Remove the CJB fuse 36 (5A).
- Measure the voltage between the CJB fuse 36 (5A) input side, circuit 19 (LB/RD) and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- YES : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to A4.
- A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 19 (LB/RD) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Remove CJB fuse 36 (5A).
- Is the control illumination on?
- YES : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : Go to A5.
- A5 CHECK CIRCUIT 19 (LB/RD) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Climate Control C294e
- Remove the CJB fuse 36 (5A).
- Measure the resistance between the CJB fuse 36 (5A) output side, circuit 19 (LB/RD) and the front climate control assembly C294e-1, circuit 19 (LB/RD).
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- YES : VERIFY the CJB fuse 36 (5A) is OK. If OK, go to A6.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A6 CHECK CIRCUIT 1045 (DB/WH) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the CJB fuse 36 (5A) input side, circuit 19 (LB/RD) and the headlamp switch C205-1, circuit 19 (LB/RD).
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- YES : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
