Test Procedure

- AW1 PRELIMINARY DIAGNOSIS FOR DTC P2199
- Retrieve and record all DTCs.
- Record the freeze frame data.
Is DTC P2199 present?
Yes No For DTC P2199 with other DTCs present, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC SUBROUTINES - 6.0L DIESEL DTC chart for appropriate
diagnosis. For DTC P2199 only, GO to AW2.UNABLE to duplicate the condition. CHECK for
a loose connection, and damaged or corroded terminals. WIGGLE the harness attempting to recreate the fault. REPAIR as necessary. REFER to SYMPTOM CHARTS - 6.0L DIESEL if a driveability concern exists. - AW2 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P2199
- Possible causes:
- IAT sensor
- IAT2 sensor
- PCM
- Key OFF.
- Cold soak the vehicle overnight.
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key ON, engine OFF.
- Access the IAT and IAT2 PIDs.
Are both temperature readings within 10°F of ambient temperature?
Yes No GO to AW3. INSTALL a new sensor for the one that is not within range. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. - Possible causes:
- AW3 CHECK KOER IAT AND IAT 2 VALUES
- Key ON, engine running.
- Access the IAT and IAT2 PIDs.
Are the sensor values within 40°C (104°F) of each other?
Yes No UNABLE to duplicate the concern. Cold soak the vehicle overnight and REPEAT the self-test. If no concern is present, INSTALL a new PCM.
CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.INSTALL a new IAT sensor. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
