Removal And Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Mercury Mariner and 2008 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the accelerator pedal electrical connector.
  2. Remove the 3 bolts and release the accelerator pedal from the locating/retaining tabs on the lower RH corner of the accelerator pedal mounting bracket.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  3. NOTE: If installing a new accelerator pedal and sensor assembly, the accelerator pedal bracket may also require replacement due to a different mounting bolt pattern between the original and replacement service parts.
  4. Remove the accelerator pedal bracket bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  5. Remove the 2 bolts and remove the accelerator pedal bracket.
    • To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  6. CAUTION: Verify that the accelerator pedal is engaged into the locating/retaining tabs of the accelerator pedal bracket during installation, prior to installing the bolts. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the accelerator pedal or accelerator pedal bracket.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
