Disassembly And Assembly

- Remove the reverse idler rear gear and reverse coupling sleeve.
- Remove the 3 insert springs.
- Remove the reverse idler gear needle bearing.
- Remove the reverse idler gear thrust bearing.
- Remove the reverse idler gear synchronizer ring.
- Remove the reverse idler front gear.
- Remove the reverse idler gear needle bearing.
- Remove the reverse idler gear thrust bearing.
- Remove and discard the roll pin.
- Inspect all the reverse idler shaft parts for damage, peeling, dents, uneven wear, bending, etc. Install new parts as necessary.
- Inspect the synchronizer rings for damage. Install new parts as necessary.
- Press the synchronizer ring against the cone and measure the clearance between the synchronizer ring and the flank surface of the gear. Install a new synchronizer ring if the measurement is not within specification.
- To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
- Install the insert springs in the correct orientation toward the engine.
NOTE:
Limit value: 0.7 mm (0.028 in).
NOTE:
Be careful with the orientation of the insert springs.
