Transmission Fluid Cooler: Removal

CAUTION: MERCON®V, MERCON®SP, Motorcraft Premium Automatic Transmission Fluid, Motorcraft Continuously Variable Chain Type Transmission Fluid and FNR5 Automatic Transmission Fluid are not interchangeable transmission fluids. The use of any fluid other than what is recommended for this transmission will cause transmission damage.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  2. Remove the front bumper cover. For additional information, refer to BUMPERS .
  3. Disconnect the 2 transmission fluid cooler tube fasteners from the radiator support.

  5. Remove the secondary latches from the transmission fluid cooler.

  7. Using the special tool, disconnect the transmission fluid cooler tubes from the transmission fluid cooler.

  9. Remove the 2 bolts and the 2 transmission fluid cooler support brackets.

  11. Remove the transmission fluid cooler.
