Pinpoint Test G: DTC U2511 - Can - Data Mis-Match (Receive Data Does Not Match Expected)

NOTE: When a new IC is installed, the PATS keys must be programmed into the new IC.
NOTE: When a new IC is installed, the parameters must be reset in the IC and the PCM.
  1. G1 CHECK THE DTCs 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Clear the DTCs
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Retrieve the DTCs
    • Review the DTCs retrieved.
    • Are any (or any combination) of the DTCs U2510, U2511 or U0100 still present? 
    1. YES  : If U2510, U2511 or U0100 are present (or any combination of them), go to  G2.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time.
  2. G2 CHECK THE BATTERY STATE OF CHARGE (SOC) 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Check the battery state of charge (SOC). Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
    • Does the battery pass the battery condition test? 
    1. YES  : Go to  G3.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new battery. REFER to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. G3 RESET THE PARAMETERS 
    • Reset the parameters in both the IC and the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset .
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Clear the DTCs
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Key in ON position.

      With the key in the ON position, wait for 15 seconds.

    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Retrieve the IC DTCs
    • Review the DTCs retrieved.
    • Are DTCs U0100, U2510, or U2511 still present? 
    1. YES  : If the DTC U0100 is retrieved, go to  G4.

      If the DTCs U2510, or U2511 (or both) are retrieved, go to  G5.

    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time.
  4. G4 CHECK FOR CORRECT IC OPERATION 
    NOTE: When a new IC is installed, the PATS keys must be programmed into the new IC.
    NOTE: When a new IC is installed, the parameters must be reset in the IC and the PCM.
    • Disconnect all the IC connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the IC connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new IC. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . RESET the parameters in both the IC and the PCM. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset . PROGRAM the PATS keys into the new IC. REFER to Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKT) Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment . CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. If DTCs U2510 or U2511 are retrieved, go to  G5. If not, TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. G5 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION 
    NOTE: When a new PCM is installed, the PATS keys do not need to be programmed into the IC.
    NOTE: When a new PCM is installed, the parameters must be reset in the IC and the PCM.
    • Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS . RESET the parameters in both the IC and the PCM. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset . CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
